Replacing text the reliable way

PDFs store text as positioned glyphs in a specific font, often a subset containing only the characters used. That's why changing a word inside an existing line breaks in most tools. The dependable approach — used by many professionals — is to cover the old text with a white box and place new text on top. Choose Helvetica, Times or Courier to match the document's style, set the size, and the result is real, searchable text.

Common quick edits

Correct a date or a name on a form, add a missing signature, cross out a line with strikethrough, add a note with an arrow, insert a page from another PDF, remove a blank page or rotate a scanned page that came out sideways — all in one place, saved into a single PDF.

Save, check, share

After saving, open the new PDF in your usual reader to check that everything sits in the right place — especially on pages you rotated. If the file needs to be smaller for email or a portal, run it through Compress PDF; to send only part of it, use Split PDF.

Can I change the font of existing text?

Not in place. Cover it with Whiteout and retype it in Helvetica, Times or Courier.

Is the edited text searchable?

Yes, for Latin-script text — it's saved as real PDF text.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

You can add text, signatures and whiteout on scans; their original text isn't selectable.

Is there a page limit?

No fixed limit; very long PDFs depend on your device's memory.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Edit PDF runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
