When to convert PDF pages to images

JPG pages are handy when you need to post a document on social media, insert a page into a presentation, add a page preview to a listing, or upload a document to a form that only accepts images. Images also display instantly in chat apps where a PDF would need to be downloaded first.

Choosing the right resolution

PDF pages are measured in points, 72 to the inch. At 72 DPI an A4 page renders at 595 × 842 pixels — fine for thumbnails. 150 DPI (1240 × 1754 pixels) is sharp on phones and laptops and is Fylo's default. 300 DPI (2480 × 3508 pixels) matches print quality and is best for documents with small text, but files are about four times larger.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Under Advanced, type page numbers like 1-3, 5 to export just those pages.

Why does my JPG look blurry?

Increase the DPI. Small text needs at least 150 DPI on screen and 300 DPI for print.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Not yet. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then convert.

Should I choose PDF to JPG or PDF to PNG?

JPG gives smaller files, ideal for photos and scanned pages. PNG is lossless — better for pages with sharp text, charts and line art.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. PDF to JPG runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
