Why PNG for PDF pages?

PDF documents are mostly text, vector graphics and charts — content with hard edges that JPG compression smears into faint halos. PNG is lossless, so every letter and line stays exactly as rendered. That makes PNG the right choice for slides, technical drawings, infographics, contracts you need to annotate and anything you'll zoom into.

Transparent backgrounds

Fylo can render pages with a transparent background instead of white — switch it on under Advanced. That's useful when you want to place a logo, diagram or signature from a PDF over another design without a white box around it.

Lossless files are larger: a text page at 150 DPI is typically a few hundred kilobytes as PNG, but a page full of photos can exceed several megabytes. For photo-heavy PDFs such as brochures, PDF to JPG produces much smaller files.

What DPI should I use?

150 DPI for on-screen use, 300 DPI for printing or OCR.

Can I convert a multi-page PDF?

Yes — every page becomes its own PNG, named with its page number, and you can download them all as a ZIP.

Does the text stay selectable?

No. PNG is an image format, so text becomes pixels. Keep the original PDF if you need selectable text.

Is there a page limit?

No fixed limit. Pages are rendered one at a time to keep memory low; long documents at 300 DPI just take longer.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. PDF to PNG runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
