To convert Word to PDF, drop your .docx file above, choose A4 or Letter and click Convert to PDF. What converts well — and what doesn't
Fylo uses the open-source mammoth library to read the document's structure and pdfmake to lay out a new PDF. Text, headings, bold and italics, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, links, images (JPEG and PNG) and manual page breaks come through reliably, with selectable text and page numbers.
Exact Word layout depends on Word's own rendering engine, fonts and page setup, which a browser can't reproduce. Multi-column layouts, text boxes, headers and footers, footnotes, tracked changes, SmartArt and custom fonts may be simplified or omitted. For a pixel-perfect copy of a complex document, use Word's own Save as PDF.
Why we don't fake it
Many online converters upload your document to a server running Microsoft Office or LibreOffice. Fylo keeps your files on your device, so it can't use those engines — and we'd rather tell you that than pretend. For letters, reports, CVs and essays with standard formatting, the in-browser result is clean and professional.

Frequently asked questions
Is the text in the PDF selectable?
Yes — the PDF contains real text, not images, so it's searchable and copyable.
Does it support old .doc files?
No, only .docx. Open a .doc in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice and save it as .docx first.
Will my fonts be kept?
The PDF uses a clean standard font (Roboto). Custom fonts from the document aren't embedded.
Can it handle Hindi, Arabic or Chinese text?
Not yet — the built-in PDF font covers Latin, Greek and Cyrillic. Fylo warns you if your document uses other scripts.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Word to PDF runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
