How to make a create zip

  1. Add files or a folder

Drop files, tap to choose them, or use Choose a folder to keep the folder structure.

  2. Pick compression

Normal suits most files; None is fastest for photos and videos.

  3. Create and download

Click Create ZIP and download the archive.

Why zip files?

A single ZIP is easier to email, upload or share than dozens of separate files, and it keeps folders and names intact. ZIP is opened natively by Windows, macOS, iPhone and Android, so the recipient doesn't need extra software.

How much will it shrink?

Text, documents, spreadsheets and code often compress by 60–90%. Photos, videos, MP3s and other already-compressed files barely shrink, so Fylo stores them without recompressing — that keeps zipping fast. Choose None to store everything for maximum speed, or Maximum for the smallest archive of text-heavy folders.

Sharing big folders

Email services usually cap attachments at 20–25 MB, so for large folders zip first and share the ZIP through cloud storage or a file-transfer service. Zipping keeps the folder structure intact, so the recipient sees exactly what you organised. For photos and videos choose None, which is much faster and produces almost the same size.
