7Z to ZIP Converter
Repack 7-Zip archives as ZIP
To convert 7Z to ZIP, drop your .7z archive above and click Convert to ZIP. Fylo extracts it with libarchive in your browser and repacks the files into a standard ZIP that Windows, macOS, iPhone and Android open without 7-Zip. Password-protected archives are supported, and nothing is uploaded.

Why convert 7Z to ZIP?
7-Zip's LZMA2 compression makes small archives, but many people don't have 7-Zip installed, and phones and older Macs can't open .7z files natively. ZIP is universally supported.
Size and speed
Because 7z compresses more tightly than ZIP, the resulting ZIP is usually somewhat larger — sometimes 10–30% for text-heavy content. Files themselves are unchanged. Extraction of LZMA data is CPU-intensive, so very large 7z archives take longer than ZIPs.
Who needs ZIP instead of 7z?
Clients, teachers, colleagues on Macs or iPads, and anyone using a phone will open a ZIP with a tap, while a 7z file usually prompts them to find and install an app. Converting before you share saves a round of 'I can't open this' emails. Upload portals, email systems and learning platforms also commonly whitelist ZIP but reject 7z.
Is anything lost when converting?
No file content changes — every file is extracted and stored again byte for byte. What doesn't carry over: 7z encryption (the new ZIP isn't password-protected), solid compression (so the ZIP is a bit larger) and some 7z-specific metadata. File names, folders and modification dates are kept.

Frequently asked questions
Will the ZIP be bigger?
Often a little, since ZIP compression is weaker than 7z.
Are encrypted 7z files supported?
Yes, with the password.
Can I just extract instead?
Yes — use Extract 7Z to download files directly.
Is anything uploaded?
No.
Is 7z to ZIP lossless?
Yes, the files themselves are unchanged; only the archive format differs.
Can I convert multiple 7z files?
Yes, each becomes a separate ZIP.
Does it keep empty folders?
Folders that contain files are kept; completely empty folders may be skipped.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. 7Z to ZIP runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
