Extract 7Z Files Online
Open 7-Zip archives without installing 7-Zip
To extract a 7Z file, drop your .7z archive above and click Extract. Fylo decompresses LZMA and LZMA2 archives with libarchive in your browser, lists every file with its path and lets you download single files or everything. Encrypted 7z files work with their password, and nothing is uploaded.

Open 7z anywhere
7z archives offer excellent compression, but Macs, phones, Chromebooks and older Windows versions can't open them without installing software. Fylo extracts them directly in your browser.
Performance
LZMA decompression is CPU-intensive, and 7z archives are often 'solid' (files compressed together), so Fylo extracts the whole archive before listing files. Large archives take a little longer than ZIPs of the same size.
What's inside a 7z archive?
A 7z file stores your files compressed with LZMA or LZMA2, often as one 'solid' block so similar files share a dictionary — that's how 7-Zip beats ZIP on size. The archive can also hold empty folders, Unicode file names, timestamps and, optionally, AES-256 encryption of both contents and file names. Fylo reads all of this with libarchive and shows each file with its full folder path.
Common problems and fixes
If you see 'wrong password', check for spaces and letter case — 7z passwords are case-sensitive. If an archive won't open, it may be incomplete (a partial download) or split into volumes such as archive.7z.001 and .002, which need to be joined first. Archives made with very new compression methods may also fail; re-saving with standard LZMA2 fixes that.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need 7-Zip installed?
No.
Are encrypted 7z archives supported?
Yes, with the password.
Can I convert 7z to ZIP?
Yes — use 7Z to ZIP.
Is there a size limit?
Only your device's memory.
Is the archive uploaded?
No, it's extracted on your device.
Can I extract a single file from a large 7z?
Yes, but because 7z archives are often solid, Fylo still has to decompress the archive to reach it. Once extracted, every file has its own Download button.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Extract 7Z runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
