Extract RAR Files Online

Open RAR and RAR5 archives without WinRAR

To extract a RAR file, drop your .rar above and click Extract. Fylo opens RAR4 and RAR5 archives with libarchive in your browser — no WinRAR or app required — and lists every file so you can download what you need. Password-protected archives work too, and your files never leave your device.

RAR archives are common for game mods, large downloads and shared folders, but macOS, iPhones, Android phones and older Windows PCs can't open them without installing software. Fylo extracts RAR right in the browser using the open-source libarchive library compiled to WebAssembly.

Supported RAR features

Fylo handles RAR4 and RAR5 archives, folders and Unicode file names, and password-protected archives (enter the password under Advanced; it's never stored). Multi-part archives (.part1.rar, .part2.rar…) and recovery records aren't supported yet.

RAR4 vs RAR5

RAR5, introduced with WinRAR 5.0 in 2013, uses a larger dictionary, stronger AES-256 encryption with PBKDF2 key derivation, and BLAKE2 checksums. Older tools that only understand RAR4 can't open RAR5 archives, which is a common reason downloads 'won't open'. Fylo's libarchive engine reads both versions.

Troubleshooting RAR files

If extraction fails, the download may be incomplete — compare the file size with the source. Multi-part archives (.part1.rar, .part2.rar or .r00, .r01) must be complete and joined, which Fylo doesn't support yet. For encrypted archives that also hide file names, you'll need the password before Fylo can even list the contents.
