RAR to ZIP Converter
Repack RAR archives as universal ZIP files
To convert RAR to ZIP, drop your .rar file above and click Convert to ZIP. Fylo extracts it with libarchive in your browser — RAR4 and RAR5, including password-protected archives — and repacks every file into a ZIP that opens natively on Windows, macOS, iPhone and Android. Nothing is uploaded.

Why convert RAR to ZIP?
RAR compresses well, but older Windows versions, macOS, iPhones and many Android phones can't open it without installing an app — and only WinRAR can create RAR files. ZIP opens everywhere out of the box, so converting saves the recipient a hassle.
What happens to the files
Every file is extracted with its folder path and written into a new ZIP. Contents are unchanged; only the archive format differs. The ZIP may be slightly larger than the RAR because RAR's compression is stronger. Split or multi-volume RARs (.part1.rar, .part2.rar) aren't supported yet — join them first.
Sharing after conversion
The ZIP that Fylo creates uses standard DEFLATE compression and stores already-compressed media (photos, videos, music) without recompressing it, so it opens instantly on Windows Explorer, macOS Finder, the iPhone Files app and Android file managers. If the RAR was password-protected, remember the ZIP is not — add protection separately if the contents are sensitive.

Frequently asked questions
Does it support RAR5?
Yes, both RAR4 and RAR5.
Can I convert password-protected RARs?
Yes, enter the password under Advanced. The ZIP itself isn't password-protected.
Are multi-part RARs supported?
Not yet.
Is my archive uploaded?
No — everything runs in your browser.
Is RAR to ZIP lossless?
Yes, every file is copied unchanged into the ZIP.
How long does conversion take?
Small archives take a second or two; archives of several hundred megabytes take longer and need enough free memory.
Can I convert several RAR files at once?
Yes, drop them all — each becomes its own ZIP.
Does the ZIP keep folders?
Yes, the full folder structure is kept.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. RAR to ZIP runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
