Online TXT Editor — Edit Text Files
Open, edit and save .txt files in your browser
To edit a text file online, open the .txt above (or start blank), make your changes with find and replace and a live word count, then save as .txt — or turn it into a formatted Word document or PDF. Your file never leaves your device, and work in progress is autosaved locally.

How to make a txt editor
Open the .txt
Choose a text file, or start a blank document.
Edit
Type, use find and replace, and check the word count.
Save
Choose TXT (selected by default), DOCX, PDF or Markdown and click Save.
Plain text, with optional formatting
Text files have no formatting, which makes them perfect for notes, logs, lists and code snippets. Fylo opens them with each blank-line-separated block as a paragraph. Saving back to TXT keeps the plain text; if you add headings or bold text, those are visible only in DOCX, PDF, HTML or Markdown exports.
Find and replace across the file
Use Find and replace to fix a repeated typo, rename a term throughout a document, or clean up exported data. Matches are counted as you type, and Replace all updates every occurrence at once — undo is one click away.
Turning notes into documents
Many people keep notes, drafts and lists as .txt files. When a note is ready to share, open it here, add a heading or two and some bullet points, and save it as a Word document or PDF — the plain text becomes a tidy, formatted document without retyping. Saving back to .txt is still available whenever you want a plain copy.
Very large text files, such as multi-megabyte logs, may be slow to edit; a code editor is better suited to those.
Frequently asked questions
Which encoding is used when saving?
UTF-8, so every language and symbol is preserved.
Can I open .log or .csv files?
Yes, as plain text.
Will line breaks be kept?
Yes; single line breaks within a paragraph are kept, blank lines separate paragraphs.
Can I convert the text to PDF?
Yes — choose PDF when saving, or use TXT to PDF.
Can I open a file with a different extension?
Rename it to .txt first, or drop it in — plain-text files are recognised by their content.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. TXT Editor runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
