Online Markdown Editor
Write visually, save clean Markdown
To edit Markdown online, open a .md file above or start blank. You edit visually — headings, bold, lists, tables, quotes, code and links look formatted — and Fylo saves clean GitHub-flavoured Markdown, or HTML, PDF and Word if you prefer. It runs entirely in your browser with local autosave.

Visual editing, Markdown output
Writing Markdown by hand is quick for simple text but fiddly for tables and nested lists. Fylo imports your file with the marked parser, lets you edit it like a document, then converts it back with turndown and its GitHub-Flavored Markdown plugin — producing # headings, - lists, fenced ``` code blocks and pipe tables that render on GitHub, GitLab and static-site generators.
Good for READMEs and docs
Draft a project README, documentation page or blog post visually, then save it as .md for your repository or as HTML for a website. Saving to PDF is handy for sharing a nicely formatted version with people who don't use Markdown.
Markdown basics
Markdown uses simple symbols for formatting: # for headings, ** for bold, _ for italic, - for bullet points, 1. for numbered lists, > for quotes, backticks for code and [text](url) for links. Tables use pipes and dashes. In Fylo you don't need to type these — the toolbar applies formatting and the symbols are written when you save — but typing '# ' or '- ' at the start of a line also works as a shortcut.
Frequently asked questions
Which Markdown flavour is saved?
GitHub-Flavored Markdown (GFM), including tables and strikethrough.
Will my original formatting style be kept?
The content is kept, but Markdown style may be normalised (for example * lists become - lists).
Can I edit the raw Markdown?
Fylo edits visually; to edit raw syntax, use the TXT editor.
Are images supported?
Images inserted in the editor are embedded as data URLs.
Can I open a README from GitHub?
Yes — download the README.md file and open it here.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Markdown Editor runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
