Trim Video Online

Cut the start and end of a video to the second

To trim a video, open it above, play to where it should start and click Start at playhead, then play to the end point and click End at playhead — or drag the sliders. Export as MP4, WebM or GIF. The video is trimmed on your device without uploading, and there's no watermark.

How to make a trim video

  1. Open the video

Choose an MP4, MOV, WebM or other video file.

  2. Set start and end

Use the playhead buttons or sliders to choose the part you want to keep.

  3. Export

Pick format and resolution, then export the trimmed video.

Trim precisely with the playhead

Pause the preview exactly where you want the video to begin and press Start at playhead; do the same for the end. The preview stops automatically at your end point so you can check the cut. Times are shown to a tenth of a second, and the export starts and ends on those exact frames because Fylo re-encodes the trimmed section rather than snapping to the nearest keyframe.

Trim, then shrink

Trimming is also the best way to make a video small enough to share: a 2-minute clip trimmed to the 20 seconds that matter is roughly six times smaller. Set a target size in Export (for example 16 MB) to make sure it fits WhatsApp or email.

Choosing the output

MP4 is the safest choice for WhatsApp, Instagram, email and phones. WebM is smaller for embedding on websites, and GIF suits short silent loops for chats and docs. 720p is usually plenty for messaging, while 1080p keeps HD recordings sharp for YouTube.

Can I remove a part from the middle?

Yes — use Cut out a section, or see Cut Video.

Does trimming reduce quality?

The trimmed video is re-encoded with H.264 at good quality. Choose 1080p to keep HD footage sharp.

Can I trim several parts and join them?

Yes: split the clip, delete the parts you don't want, and the rest is joined automatically.

Is my video uploaded?

No, everything happens in your browser.

How long does trimming take?

Short phone clips usually render in seconds to a minute. Longer or 4K videos take longer because every frame is re-encoded on your own device; choosing 720p makes the export noticeably faster.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Trim Video runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
