Video to MP3 Converter
Extract the audio from any video — no upload
To convert a video to MP3, drop your MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM or other video above, pick a bitrate and click Extract MP3. Fylo pulls out the soundtrack with ffmpeg running inside your browser, so even large videos never upload. A 200 MB video's audio is typically extracted in around 10 seconds.

Why extract audio from a video?
Saving a lecture, interview, sermon, podcast recording or music performance as MP3 lets you listen on any phone or car stereo without draining battery on video playback — and the file is a fraction of the size. MP3 is also the format most transcription services, podcast hosts and audio editors accept first.
How Fylo extracts the audio
Fylo reads the video with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. The file is mounted for reading rather than copied into memory, so large videos work well. Only the audio stream is decoded and re-encoded to MP3 with the LAME encoder at the bitrate you choose; the video itself is skipped, which is why extraction is fast even for long, high-resolution files.
If a video has no audio track — screen recordings without a microphone, for instance — Fylo tells you instead of producing a silent file.
| Bitrate | Size per minute | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 128 kbps | ≈ 0.96 MB | Speech, lectures, podcasts |
| 192 kbps | ≈ 1.44 MB | Music — transparent for most listeners |
| 320 kbps | ≈ 2.4 MB | Highest MP3 quality |
Frequently asked questions
Can I extract audio from a YouTube video?
Only from video files you have on your device and the right to use. Fylo doesn't download from YouTube or other sites.
Which video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, FLV, WMV and 3GP, plus most other files ffmpeg can read.
Can I get the audio as M4A or WAV instead?
Yes — use MP4 to M4A, MOV to WAV or another pair in the audio converter; they accept video files too.
Will the MP3 keep the full length?
Yes, the whole soundtrack is extracted. Use the Audio Cutter afterwards to trim it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Video to MP3 runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
