Click Convert, then download each MP3 file or all of them as one ZIP.
Why convert MOV to MP3?
iPhone videos of concerts, lectures and family events often matter more for their sound. Converting MOV to MP3 gives you a small file you can share on WhatsApp or play anywhere.
What happens when you convert MOV to MP3?
The MOV's AAC audio is decoded and encoded to MP3 at your chosen bitrate; the HEVC or H.264 video is ignored, so even 4K iPhone clips convert quickly.
How does Fylo convert MOV to MP3?
Fylo decodes the soundtrack of the MOV (usually AAC) with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly and encodes it with the LAME MP3 encoder at 192 kbps (adjustable from 96 to 320 kbps). The video stream is skipped entirely, which is why extraction is fast — the MP3 is a fraction of the video's size. The original sample rate and channel layout are kept unless you change them under Advanced.
What's the difference between MOV and MP3?
MOV is the QuickTime File Format that Apple introduced in 1991. MP4 was later standardised on the same structure, so the two are close relatives. iPhones record MOV files (usually H.264 or HEVC video with AAC audio), and professional cameras and editors use MOV for high-quality ProRes footage.
MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer III) was developed largely at Germany's Fraunhofer Institute and standardised in 1993. It removes sounds the ear is unlikely to notice — a technique called perceptual coding — so a 3-minute song takes about 4 MB at 192 kbps instead of about 32 MB as WAV. The last MP3 patents expired in 2017, so it's now free to use.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work with iPhone HEVC videos?
Yes — only the audio is processed, so the video codec doesn't matter.
Can I keep the audio as M4A instead?
Yes, use MOV to M4A for an Apple-friendly file with no MP3 step.
Is my MOV file uploaded to a server?
No. Fylo runs ffmpeg, the same engine used by professional video tools, compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser. Your MOV file is read directly from your device and never sent anywhere.
