How to convert MOV to WAV

  1. Add your MOV videos

Drag and drop MOV files into the box or tap to choose them. The converter engine (about 31 MB) downloads once, the first time you convert.

  2. Check the settings

WAV is lossless, so there's no bitrate to pick. Change sample rate or switch to mono under Advanced if a device needs it.

  3. Convert and download

Click Convert, then download each WAV file or all of them as one ZIP.

Why convert MOV to WAV?

Editors and audio engineers often need a WAV of the sound recorded with a camera or iPhone to sync, clean up or mix.

What happens when you convert MOV to WAV?

The audio is decoded to 16-bit PCM WAV; PCM audio from cameras is preserved without loss.

How does Fylo convert MOV to WAV?

Fylo decodes the soundtrack of the MOV (usually AAC) with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly and encodes it with 16-bit little-endian PCM with no compression. The video stream is skipped entirely, which is why extraction is fast — the WAV is a fraction of the video's size. The original sample rate and channel layout are kept unless you change them under Advanced.

What's the difference between MOV and WAV?

MOV is the QuickTime File Format that Apple introduced in 1991. MP4 was later standardised on the same structure, so the two are close relatives. iPhones record MOV files (usually H.264 or HEVC video with AAC audio), and professional cameras and editors use MOV for high-quality ProRes footage.

WAV was introduced by Microsoft and IBM in 1991 and, like AVI, uses the RIFF container. Most WAVs hold uncompressed PCM audio: CD quality (44.1 kHz, 16-bit, stereo) runs at 1,411 kbps, or about 10.6 MB per minute.

Is the camera's PCM audio kept losslessly?

Yes, 16-bit PCM is written unchanged at the same rate (24-bit is converted to 16-bit).

Can I get 48 kHz?

Yes, choose 48 kHz under Advanced.

Is my MOV file uploaded to a server?

No. Fylo runs ffmpeg, the same engine used by professional video tools, compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser. Your MOV file is read directly from your device and never sent anywhere.
