Crop Image Online

Crop to any size or a social-media preset

To crop an image, open it above, choose an aspect ratio — free, 1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16, passport, YouTube thumbnail, Instagram post or story, or WhatsApp DP — drag the box over the part you want and click Apply crop. Then export at full quality. Your photo never leaves your device.

How to make a crop image

  1. Open your image

Choose a photo or drop it into the box.

  2. Pick a ratio and position the box

Select a preset, then drag and resize the dashed box. Fixed ratios stay locked while you resize.

  3. Apply and export

Click Apply crop, then Export to download in JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.

Which aspect ratio should I choose?

Square 1:1 works for Instagram feed posts, profile pictures and WhatsApp DPs. 4:5 portrait takes up more of the Instagram feed and is Instagram's tallest feed format. 16:9 matches YouTube thumbnails (1280 × 720), TV screens and most laptop displays, while 9:16 is the full-screen vertical format used by Instagram Stories, Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. The passport preset uses 35:45, the most common passport photo shape.

Cropping without losing quality

Cropping removes pixels around your selection but never resamples the pixels you keep, so the cropped area is exactly as sharp as the original. To change the pixel dimensions afterwards — for example to make a thumbnail exactly 1280 × 720 — use Resize Image after cropping, or the Size slider in Export. For passport and visa photos with a face guide, the Passport Photo Maker is more precise.

Can I crop to a circle?

Crop to 1:1, then use Round corners in Export with the maximum radius to get a circle with transparent corners (choose PNG or WebP).

Does cropping reduce image quality?

No. The pixels you keep are unchanged; only the surrounding area is removed.

Can I crop several images at once?

The editor works on one image at a time. For identical batch resizing, use Resize Image.

Can I undo a crop?

Yes — click Undo to restore the full image.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Crop Image runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
