Add Text to Video Online

Captions and titles drawn into your video

To add text to a video, open it above, type your caption, choose top, centre or bottom, set the size and colour, and optionally limit it to a time range. Export, and the text is drawn into every frame with a dark outline so it reads on any background. Nothing is uploaded.

Captions that read everywhere

Most social video is watched without sound, so a short caption explaining what's happening keeps viewers watching. Fylo draws the text with the Roboto font and an outline whose thickness scales with the video's resolution, so it stays readable on bright skies and dark rooms alike. Keep captions short — one line of up to about 40 characters on vertical video.

Text vs subtitles

A text caption is one message, like a title or a call to action. For dialogue that changes every few seconds, use an .srt subtitle file with Add Subtitles to Video, which burns in each line at the right time.

Good caption examples

A strong caption names the moment or the payoff: 'Day 1 vs Day 30', 'Wait for the end', 'Recipe: 15-minute pasta' or a product name and price. Put titles at the top for vertical videos, because the bottom of the screen is covered by buttons and descriptions on Reels, Shorts and TikTok. Use the time range to show a hook for the first three seconds and leave the rest clean.

Can I add multiple captions?

One caption per export for now; for timed lines, use subtitles (.srt).

Which font is used?

Roboto Medium, a clear, widely used sans-serif font.

Can I show text only at the start?

Yes — set Show from 0 and Until, for example, 3 seconds.

Does it support emoji?

Emoji may not render in the video font; plain text is recommended.

Can I change the text position precisely?

Choose top, centre or bottom; the text is always centred horizontally.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Add Text to Video runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
