How to convert WAV to AIFF
Add your WAV files
Drag and drop WAV files into the box or tap to choose them. The converter engine (about 31 MB) downloads once, the first time you convert.
Check the settings
AIFF is lossless, so there's no bitrate to pick. Change sample rate or switch to mono under Advanced if a device needs it.
Convert and download
Click Convert, then download each AIFF file or all of them as one ZIP.
Why convert WAV to AIFF?
Mac audio software and some samplers prefer AIFF over WAV.
What happens when you convert WAV to AIFF?
Fylo rewrites the samples as 16-bit big-endian PCM AIFF. Audio is identical; size is the same.
How does Fylo convert WAV to AIFF?
Fylo decodes the PCM audio in the WAV with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly and encodes it with 16-bit big-endian PCM with no compression. Both formats are lossless, so the decoded samples are identical; only the container and file size change (a 3-minute song is ≈ 32 MB as WAV and ≈ 32 MB as AIFF). The original sample rate and channel layout are kept unless you change them under Advanced.
What's the difference between WAV and AIFF?
WAV was introduced by Microsoft and IBM in 1991 and, like AVI, uses the RIFF container. Most WAVs hold uncompressed PCM audio: CD quality (44.1 kHz, 16-bit, stereo) runs at 1,411 kbps, or about 10.6 MB per minute.
AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format) was created by Apple in 1988, based on Electronic Arts' IFF format. Like WAV it stores uncompressed PCM audio — just with big-endian byte order — so the two contain identical sound data at the same settings.

Frequently asked questions
Is anything lost?
No, both are uncompressed PCM. 24-bit WAVs are written as 16-bit.
Why would I need AIFF?
Some Mac apps and Apple-centric workflows handle AIFF metadata better.
Is my WAV file uploaded to a server?
No. Fylo runs ffmpeg, the same engine used by professional video tools, compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser. Your WAV file is read directly from your device and never sent anywhere.
