How to make a docx editor
Choose the .docx
Pick the file from your downloads, email attachments or Files app.
Read or edit
Scroll, search with find and replace, or edit text and formatting.
Save
Download as .docx, PDF or TXT.
Open .docx attachments anywhere
Email attachments and downloads often arrive as .docx on a device without Word. Instead of uploading a private document to a converter site, open it here: Fylo reads the file in your browser and shows its text, headings, lists, tables and images. Use Find to jump to a word or phrase.
About the .docx format
A .docx file is a ZIP archive of XML files that describe the text, styles and images — the Office Open XML standard (ISO/IEC 29500) used by Word since 2007. Because the format is open, other software can read and write it, though complex page layouts render differently outside Word.
Saving in other formats
Besides .docx, you can save the document as PDF for sharing or printing, as plain text to paste into forms and emails, as Markdown for notes apps and websites, or as HTML for web pages and email builders. Each format is created on your device in a second or two, so you can save several versions of the same document.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a viewer or an editor?
Both — you can just read the document, or make changes and save.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, editing works without a connection.
Can I open .odt files?
Not yet; convert them to .docx first.
Are images inside the .docx shown?
Yes, JPEG, PNG and GIF images are displayed and kept when saving.
Will the document look exactly as it does in Word?
Content is preserved, but page layout, fonts and spacing may differ. For a pixel-exact copy, use Word's own Save as PDF.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. DOCX Editor runs entirely in your browser — your files are processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, it even keeps working if your connection drops.
