How target-size compression works
File size equals bitrate × duration. Fylo measures the video's duration, subtracts room for 64 kbps AAC audio and sets the H.264 video bitrate so the total fits your limit with a safety margin. It lowers the resolution to 720p — or 480p for long videos — so the bitrate isn't spread too thin. If the first pass still overshoots, Fylo automatically tries again at a lower bitrate.
How long can a video be?
At 16 MB, roughly 2–3 minutes still looks good at 480–720p. Longer videos would need a bitrate too low to watch comfortably, so Fylo tells you the approximate maximum length instead of producing a blurry mess — trim the video first with a video editor, or pick a bigger size.
