Why convert ICO to WebP?

Use ICO to WebP when you want to display an icon on a modern web page at a fraction of the file size while keeping its transparent background.

Does converting ICO to WebP affect quality or size?

The largest icon image is extracted and saved as WebP with alpha. Icons are already small, so savings are modest per file but add up when a page lists hundreds of them.

What's the difference between ICO and WebP?

ICO is the Windows icon format and the classic favicon.ico. One ICO file holds several square images (16 to 256 px) so each screen can use the sharpest size.

WebP is Google's web image format. It supports lossy and lossless compression, transparency and animation, and is typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at similar quality.

Does WebP keep the icon's transparency?

Yes. WebP supports full 8-bit alpha in both lossy and lossless modes.

Should I use lossless WebP for icons?

Usually, yes — icons have sharp edges and few colours, which lossless WebP stores efficiently and exactly. Enable Lossless in Advanced.

Are my ICO files uploaded to a server?

No. Fylo converts ICO to WebP entirely inside your browser using a background Web Worker, so your files never leave your device. That's also why it's fast — there's no upload or download wait.
