Why convert SVG to JPG?

JPG is accepted by virtually every upload form, CMS and document editor, and it's the usual requirement for thumbnails, ad banners and print services. Converting an SVG illustration or chart to JPG gives you a universally compatible image.

Does converting SVG to JPG affect quality or size?

JPG has no transparency, so the SVG's transparent background is filled with white or a colour of your choice. Sharp lines and text can show faint compression halos; keep quality at 90 or above, or choose SVG to PNG for graphics with fine text.

What's the difference between SVG and JPG?

SVG is a vector format written in XML. It scales to any size without losing sharpness, which makes it ideal for logos and icons — but many apps and platforms only accept raster images.

JPG is the world's most common photo format. It uses lossy compression to keep photos small, but it has no transparency and loses a little detail every time it's re-saved.

Can I make the background a different colour?

Yes. Open Advanced and choose any background colour before converting.

Is SVG to JPG lossless?

No. Rasterising locks the vector into pixels, and JPG compression is lossy. Keep your original SVG for future edits.

Are my SVG files uploaded to a server?

No. Fylo converts SVG to JPG entirely inside your browser using a background Web Worker, so your files never leave your device. That's also why it's fast — there's no upload or download wait.
